A stealth-mode Biotech startup focused on advancing the future of regenerative medicine is seeking a Lead Scientist with expertise in stem cell biology. This is a key scientific leadership role responsible for building and refining stem cell workflows from early-stage research through translational readiness.
iO Associates are looking for someone who has successfully navigated the pace and ambiguity of an early-stage biotech, ideally with experience in foundational platform development, in startup environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, optimization, and validation of stem cell isolation, expansion, characterization, and preservation protocols.
- Develop and run experiments to assess cell identity, purity, viability, and differentiation potential.
- Establish quality control standards and ensure reproducibility across experiments and batches.
- Implement and evaluate new analytical technologies (e.g., flow cytometry, microscopy, molecular profiling).
- Draft SOPs, technical documentation, and contribute to regulatory filings and data packages.
- Establish lab systems and workflows from the ground up.
Experience
- PhD in Stem Cell Biology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a similar field.
- 5+ years of experience in human stem cell research
- Experience developing stem cell protocols and troubleshooting complex biological systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work in startup or stealth-stage biotech environments
- Experience with common analytical techniques
- Self-directed, hands-on, and excited to shape early-stage science in an exciting company.
What's Offered
- Opportunity to build the core science behind an emerging regenerative medicine platform
- High autonomy and influence in a stealth-stage venture backed by experienced operators and investors
