Logistics company in Pittsburgh looking for a Full-time Data Engineer. The job is onsite in their office.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand business processes and reporting and analysis needs. Make recommendations and design solutions to ensure data is entered, stored, and managed in accordance with defined data architecture principles to ensure high data quality results.
  • Design, build, and maintain a data warehouse and coordinate and schedule data refresh activities.
  • Design, build, and maintain data modeling and manipulation programs and scripts that support data reporting and analysis initiatives.
  • Perform data management tasks, such as data cleansing, manipulations, and transformations.
  • Create and manage database reports; assist with dashboard visualizations and designs.
  • Manage and maintain the performance, recoverability, versioning, and security of all corporate database systems. Ensure database backups and replications are set up to mitigate the impact of a data breach.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors and data quality concerns.
  • Participate in M&A activities to effectively merge data sets for consolidated reporting and analytics.
  • Proactively seek out and implement improvements to data quality.
  • Be aware of and understand current and evolving data trends and technologies.
  • Create and maintain documentation on all responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • 5+ years of direct experience in data architecture, modeling, scripting, or reporting.
  • Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling.
  • Understanding of data management concepts and practices.
  • Experience with SQL and other scripting languages.
  • Experience with data reporting and analytical tools. Direct experience with SSRS and PowerBI is preferred.
  • Experience with Windows SQL Server environments and administration tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Independent sense of urgency to task and project completion.
  • Ability to work well with a variety of personality types.
