Test Automation Architect

iO Associates are currently partnered with a fast-growing consultancy delivering cutting-edge solutions to Fortune 500 clients, and they’re looking for a Principal Test Automation Consultant to lead a greenfield build of a test automation practice.

This is a high-visibility, strategic role – not traditional QA. You’ll be responsible for defining the vision, architecture, and roadmap for test automation across a range of modern, distributed applications.

What You’ll Be Doing
* Design and stand up a test automation practice from the ground up
* Define automation strategy, governance, and best practices across global teams
* Architect scalable test frameworks across mobile, web, frontend, and backend systems
* Partner with senior leadership to scope, plan, and deliver automation initiatives
* Work alongside technical leaders to align automation with broader engineering strategy
* Lay the foundation for future hiring and team scale-out

What They’re Looking For
* Experience operating at a Principal / Architect / Practice Lead level
* Proven track record of building or scaling test automation frameworks
* Strong background in automation strategy, not just execution
* Experience working across complex, distributed systems (mobile, web, backend)
* Familiarity with modern engineering environments:
○ Kubernetes & Docker
○ CI/CD pipelines
○ AWS (Device Farm is a plus)
○ Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
* Ability to operate in a consultative, client-facing environment

Nice to Have
* Background in consulting or building practices within a consultancy
* Exposure to Golang, Java, or React environments
* Experience working on global / international applications
