Senior Software Engineer (Python)

iO Associates are supporting a top-tier, multi-strategy investment firm on the appointment of a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-impact Research & Technology function. You’ll build production-grade internal systems that embed modern AI capabilities into workflows across research, trading, and business operations.

What you’ll do

• Design and deliver backend infrastructure for AI-enabled services (e.g., LLM access layers, vector search, internal chat/services, observability/monitoring)
• Build internal applications that integrate AI into day-to-day workflows for technical and non-technical users
• Architect data pipelines and service integrations that power AI features
• Own projects end-to-end from design through production deployment
• Evaluate new tools, run proofs-of-concept, and productionize successful solutions
• Partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into pragmatic technical designs
• Set best practices/patterns for AI application development and mentor other engineers
• Work closely with infrastructure and security teams on deployment, scaling, and governance

Required background

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong Python (primary language); other languages a plus
• Proven experience building backend services, APIs, and internal platforms
• Experience with cloud/containerization and/or distributed systems
• Strong product mindset: able to prototype quickly and deliver robust production systems
• Excellent communication and ownership mindset
