Senior Java Developer (e-Trading)

iO Associates are currently partnered with a leading financial services firm that is building and enhancing a proprietary, high-performance Fixed Income electronic trading platform spanning Credit and Rates products. This is a front-office engineering role partnering directly with traders and quantitative teams to deliver real-time trading applications used for electronic execution across multiple venues.

What you will do

• Design and develop a high-throughput Fixed Income e-trading platform (Credit and Rates)
• Build real-time trading workflows covering axes, RFQs, and dealer-to-client execution
• Integrate and execute orders electronically across multiple ECNs and liquidity venues
• Enhance and support existing trading infrastructure and applications across a mixed technology stack
• Drive architecture and implementation with focus on high availability, scalability, and reusable components
• Collaborate with other Fixed Income front-office teams to promote shared frameworks and common tooling
• Champion best-practice SDLC, including test-driven development and strong engineering governance
• Balance time-to-market delivery with compliance, audit, and control requirements
• Mentor and support junior developers

Required experience

• 5+ years’ experience within financial services (front office preferred)
• Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with the trading desk
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: design, coding, testing, debugging
• Deep experience in front-office trading systems, specifically e-trading
• Expert Java development (10+ years); Python is a plus
• Solid understanding of Fixed Income pricing and analytics
• Strong multithreaded / concurrent programming experience
• Understanding of Credit market structure across buy-side and sell-side
• FIX protocol knowledge is a plus
• Experience with ION or Broadway API is a plus
• Strong KDB+/q knowledge is a significant plus

Education

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
