🏢 Early-Stage Biotech | Clinical Progression | Build-from-Scratch Role
💼 Permanent or Flexible Engagement Considered

iO Associates are partnered with an exciting, well-funded biotech at a pivotal stage of growth, as they move towards the clinic and build out their internal capabilities.

This is a rare opportunity to join at an early stage and take full ownership of the IT function, shaping the infrastructure, systems, and strategy from the ground up in a highly innovative scientific environment.

The Opportunity

You’ll be the first dedicated IT hire, acting as both a strategic partner to leadership and a hands-on operator across the business.

Working closely with R&D, Finance, and Operations, you’ll define and deliver the IT roadmap, ensuring the organisation is set up for clinical progression and beyond.

This role offers a high level of autonomy and visibility, with the chance to build a scalable, compliant, and secure IT environment from day one.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own and deliver the IT strategy aligned to business and clinical goals
  • Design and implement scalable infrastructure across cloud and SaaS environments
  • Lead vendor selection and manage key technology partners
  • Establish cybersecurity frameworks, policies, and incident response processes
  • Ensure compliance with GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and other regulatory standards
  • Implement and manage core business systems (e.g. Veeva, ERP, document management)
  • Provide hands-on support across end-user IT, hardware, and day-to-day operations
  • Build the foundations for future team growth as the company scales

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience leading IT in a biotech, pharma, or life sciences environment
  • Proven track record of building or scaling IT functions in small or growing organisations
  • Strong technical expertise across Microsoft Azure, M365, and cloud infrastructure
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity and regulated environments (GxP, Part 11, etc.)
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, “team of one” environment
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to work cross-functionally

Why This Role?

  • Join a highly innovative biotech at a critical inflection point
  • Take full ownership of IT strategy and execution
  • Work directly with senior leadership and scientific teams
  • Build the function your way, with real impact from day one
  • Backed by strong funding and progressing towards the clinic
