Senior Certification Engineer – Aircraft Seating
Location: PFlorida | Salary: $130,000 | Type: Permanent, full-time
About the opportunity
We’re partnering with a specialist aircraft seating manufacturer to hire a Senior Certification Engineer – a role designed for someone ready to take the next step in their career and own seat certification end to end, from design through test to FAA approval.
It’s a lean, agile team where certification isn’t one small cog in a large machine. If you’ve built a few years of seating certification experience at a larger OEM and want to step up – owning programs in full, shaping how certification is run, and leading and mentoring junior engineers – this is where you can do it. With a dedicated test facility on site, you’ll be hands-on with the testing.
It’s the natural move for a certification engineer who’s ready for more scope, faster decisions, and genuine ownership, and who wants to see their work fly.
What you’ll do
- Lead certification of aircraft seating products to TSO-C127b and applicable TSO requirements, 14 CFR 25.561/25.562 (static and 16g dynamic conditions), HIC, and Part 25 cabin flammability (25.853 / Appendix F)
- Own the full compliance and certification data package – test plans, analyses, reports, and substantiation documentation
- Plan, run, and witness dynamic (sled) and static seat testing at the on-site test facility
- Take end-to-end ownership of certification projects, from certification basis through to approval
- Lead, mentor, and support junior and newly qualified engineers, building certification capability across the team
- Interface with the FAA, DERs/ODA, and internal design and program teams
What you’ll bring
- Minimum 3 years’ aircraft seating certification experience (essential)
- Strong working knowledge of TSO-C127b, 14 CFR Part 25 (25.561, 25.562, 25.785), and cabin flammability requirements
- Experience planning and executing dynamic and static seat testing
- Confident authoring compliance and certification documentation
- Experience mentoring or leading engineers, or readiness to step into that
- Located within commuting distance of Palm City, FL, or open to relocating (this is a fully on-site role)
Desirable
- Familiarity with SAE AS8049, ABAP policy, and EASA CS-25 seating requirements
- Exposure to DER coordination or working within an ODA
- Background across premium, business-class, or VIP seating programs
Package
- $120,000-$130,000 depending on experience
- Permanent, on-site role in Florida
- Relocation support available for the right candidate
