Role Summary

Due to ongoing growth and strategic initiatives, our Client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure DevOps Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team. This pivotal role involves shaping and implementing the cloud infrastructure and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines that underpin vital enterprise systems. This is a full-time, remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage Azure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
  • Build, optimise, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployment within Azure DevOps or similar platforms.
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, and scaling processes across various environments to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Deploy, secure, and manage Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters and containerised workloads, ensuring best practices for security and availability.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions leveraging Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Collaborate with development teams to streamline build, test, and deployment workflows, fostering a culture of automation and continuous improvement.
  • Enforce cloud security standards, including identity management, secrets handling, and network controls, to safeguard enterprise assets.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root-cause analyses, and drive initiatives aimed at enhancing system resilience and reliability.
  • Advocate for a DevOps culture that emphasises automation, scalability, and operational excellence.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 5-8+ years’ experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering roles.
  • Proven expertise with Microsoft Azure services such as Azure App Services, Functions, AKS, ACR, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Storage Accounts, VNETs, and related networking and security features.
  • Strong experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or comparable CI/CD tools.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code practices, preferably Terraform, for cloud resource management.
  • Hands-on scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python to facilitate automation tasks.
  • Extensive experience working with Docker and container orchestration systems like Kubernetes.
  • Thorough understanding of cloud security, networking, governance, and identity management.
  • Experience implementing observability, incident response workflows, and defining best practices for reliability.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Relevant Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-400, or AZ-305.
  • Knowledge of service mesh technologies, API gateways, or distributed systems architecture.
  • Background in back-end development environments such as .NET, Node.js, or similar.
  • Experience with cloud financial management (FinOps) and cost optimisation strategies.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards like SOC2 or Zero Trust security frameworks.
