Senior SAP CPI Consultant – S/4HANA Public Cloud
Overview
We are seeking a senior SAP CPI consultant to support an active S/4HANA Public Cloud programme. The organisation currently has a junior consultant handling CPI build work and now requires a senior specialist to own integration design, guide best practice, and reduce delivery risk.
This role is hands-on and delivery-focused, with responsibility for ensuring integrations are scalable, secure, upgrade-safe, and aligned to clean-core principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Take technical ownership of SAP CPI (Integration Suite) within SAP Business Technology Platform
- Design and review integration architecture for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
- Mentor and support junior CPI consultants; review iFlows and integration patterns
- Build and optimise CPI iFlows using SAP-recommended APIs and standard content
- Implement robust error handling, monitoring, logging and alerting
- Ensure integrations follow clean-core and Public Cloud extensibility guidelines
Required Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP Cloud Platform Integration / Integration Suite
- Proven delivery on S/4HANA Public Cloud (not ECC-only or Private Cloud only)
- API-led integration design (OData, REST, SOAP; IDoc where applicable)
- Security & connectivity: OAuth, certificates, destinations, Cloud Connector
- Confident working in live programmes with multiple integrations in flight
What a good CPI expert looks like (senior-level)
- Understands Public Cloud limitations instinctively
Knows what cannot be done in-core and designs CPI-led solutions accordingly.
- Architectural, not just technical
Thinks end-to-end: patterns, reusability, error scenarios, upgrades, and scale.
- API-first and SAP-aligned
Uses whitelisted APIs, SAP standard content and best practices – avoids brittle custom builds.
- Owns quality and stability
Designs integrations that survive go-live, hypercare, and quarterly upgrades.
- Comfortable leading without ego
Can guide juniors, challenge poor designs, and reassure stakeholders.
- Delivery-minded communicator
Explains integration trade-offs clearly to functional and non-technical teams.
