This is a great opportunity for a Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering graduate, or an engineer with a few years of relevant industry experience, to develop their career within the high-end VIP aircraft completions and modificationsector. You will support the design, integration and certification of mechanical systems used across bespoke aircraft interior and avionics-modification programmes.
Working closely with Structures, Avionics, Certification and Production, you will help turn engineering concepts into practical, compliant installation solutions that can be delivered on aircraft.
What you will be doing
• Support the design and integration of mechanical systems for VIP aircraft interior-completion and modification programmes.
• Produce and maintain engineering drawings, installation packages, technical reports and supporting design documentation.
• Assist with modification concepts, Engineering Orders and clear work instructions for aircraft installation teams.
• Work on aircraft utility systems, including environmental control, ventilation, equipment cooling, fire/smoke detection, potable and grey water, vacuum waste, oxygen and bleed-air systems.
• Review aircraft technical data, including maintenance manuals, Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives, and identify implications for modification work.
• Investigate drawing/documentation conflicts and support practical corrective actions with senior engineering colleagues.
• Help compile engineering substantiation and technical data to support STC and certification activity.
• Work with Production and installation teams to respond to engineering queries during live modification and completion work.
• Maintain awareness of FAA requirements, manufacturer data and applicable airworthiness standards.
• Contribute ideas to improve engineering documentation, processes and design practices.
What we are looking for
• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Systems Engineeringor a related discipline.
• Between 0-3 years’relevant experience in aerospace engineering, aircraft mechanical systems, aircraft modification or a comparable technical environment.
• An interest in building a long-term career in VIP aircraft interiors, completions and certification.
• Working knowledge of aircraft mechanical and utility systems; exposure to environmental control, plumbing, oxygen, ventilation or cooling systems would be valuable.
• The ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and certification documentation.
• CAD capability, ideally with SolidWorks; experience with other mechanical-design packages will also be considered.
• Familiarity with aircraft modifications, STCs, FAA certification or regulatory compliance is advantageous, but not essential for a strong early-career candidate.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working across Engineering, Quality, Certification and Production.
• Comfortable working in a hangar-based environment and around live aircraft-completion activity.
