Senior DO-178 Embedded Software Engineer

We are supporting a leading engineering services organisation within the aerospace and avionics sector that is seeking experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineers with strong DO-178 expertise to support safety-critical development programmes.

This position will focus on the design, development, verification, and certification of embedded software for aerospace and defence applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software in C/C++ for safety-critical avionics systems

• Support full software development lifecycle activities in accordance with DO-178C standards

• Create and review high-level and low-level software requirements

• Perform software integration, verification, and validation activities

• Support certification documentation and compliance efforts

• Work closely with systems, hardware, and verification engineering teams

• Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and problem resolution

• Contribute to software architecture and technical design discussions

Required Experience

• Strong experience developing embedded software in C/C++

• Proven experience working within DO-178B or DO-178C environments

• Experience with safety-critical or real-time embedded systems

• Understanding of the software certification lifecycle and associated documentation

• Experience with requirements management and verification tools

• Ability to work independently within complex engineering programmes

Preferred Experience

• Aerospace, avionics, or defence industry background

• Experience with RTOS or ARINC 653 environments

• Familiarity with tools such as DOORS, VectorCAST, JIRA, or similar

• Experience supporting DAL A or DAL B programmes
