Role Overview

Due to ongoing strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing clinical data utilisation and operational efficiency, our Client is seeking a seasoned Data Scientist specialising in clinical analytics. This pivotal role is designed to be a central part of their data-driven transformation, offering an opportunity to develop predictive models that directly influence patient care and organisational performance. The position presents a chance to work on innovative projects in a dynamic, remote working environment, contributing to healthcare advancements on a meaningful scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement advanced predictive models for metrics such as hospital length of stay, patient retention, transfer risk, and process bottleneck identification.
  • Develop and refine NLP pipelines to analyse clinical documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Utilise SQL and Python, R, or SAS to extract, process, and analyse healthcare datasets, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Work with Epic EHR data to support clinical decision support and analytics initiatives.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and adhere to HL7/FHIR standards throughout all data handling and analytics processes.
  • Support the integration of machine learning and AI techniques to optimize clinical workflows and patient outcomes.
  • Act as a mentor to junior data scientists, fostering team growth and knowledge sharing.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in healthcare or data analytics, demonstrating a strong understanding of clinical data environments.
  • At least two years working with payor organisations or healthcare providers.
  • Proficient in SQL & Python.
  • Demonstrable expertise in statistical modelling, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and NLP.
  • Experience working with Epic EHR systems or equivalent clinical data platforms.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based ML pipelines and clinical workflow optimisation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear recommendations.
  • Proven leadership or mentorship skills, capable of guiding junior team members.

Desirable but Not Essential

  • Familiarity with HL7 and FHIR interoperability standards.
  • Experience building within AI, GenAI or LLM’s
  • Epic Certified
