Role Summary
This pivotal role ensures the integrity and usability of data across key defense acquisition platforms, supporting vital decision-making processes. As a core member of the Data Product & Operations team, you will shape data standards, oversee data stewardship, and champion continuous improvement, playing a crucial part in advancing national security capabilities. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain data transformation and enrichment processes aligned with business needs.
- Create and enforce data standards, policies, and procedures to uphold data accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
- Oversee systems for data quality assurance and governance, ensuring ongoing integrity across all platforms.
- Identify data issues through assessment and lead initiatives to improve quality and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data Engineering and Product Managers to ensure data requirements are met.
- Document data sources, definitions, and workflows thoroughly to support transparency and auditability.
- Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on data sets post-ingestion to confirm standards and requirements are satisfied.
- Utilise SQL and Python to query, analyse, and manipulate data, supporting various organisational needs.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members on data management best practices and standards.
- Manage and prioritise day-to-day Data Stewardship activities, allocating resources for new data initiatives.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years managing data teams, with proven leadership skills.
- Over 6 years of experience in data stewardship and data management roles within enterprise environments.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysis.
- Extensive experience with Python for data manipulation, transformation, and scripting.
- Solid understanding of data governance principles and their application.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts clearly.
- Analytical mindset with high attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Existing U.S. security clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Experience working within startups or entrepreneurial settings.
- Advanced degrees such as a Master’s in Data Science or related disciplines.
- Knowledge of Generative AI and agent-based technologies.
- Familiarity with defence acquisition processes and related data sources.
- Track record managing data-focused projects and initiatives.
