Role Overview

This strategic hire is driven by ongoing growth and a commitment to advancing their AI capabilities. As a key member of the team, the Senior Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in shaping future technological breakthroughs. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the entire data science lifecycle for AI-powered products, from problem definition to deployment, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Develop, train, and optimise advanced AI and machine learning models, including computer vision and spatial-temporal systems, for analysing large aerial and satellite imagery datasets.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and design teams to translate technical insights into impactful solutions that meet customer needs.
• Drive experimentation with new algorithms, techniques, and methodologies to improve model accuracy, robustness, and operational efficiency.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible communication for diverse stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of the latest developments in AI, computer vision, and geospatial analytics, and evaluate their applicability to the company’s projects.
• Ensure models are interpretable, scalable, and reliable, with a focus on responsible AI practices, including bias mitigation and explainability.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to shaping the AI research and development strategy.

Essential Skills & Experience

• A minimum of a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Vision, Geospatial Science, or a related discipline.
• Over 5 years’ hands-on experience applying AI and machine learning techniques to real-world problems, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
• Proven development experience with computer vision, spatial analysis, or agentic AI systems, such as object detection, semantic segmentation, or temporal modelling.
• Strong proficiency in Python, with familiarity across frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or HuggingFace.
• Experience managing large-scale, complex datasets, particularly geospatial or imagery-based data.
• Solid understanding of statistical analysis, model evaluation, and experimental design.
• Demonstrable experience deploying models within production environments, with familiarity in cloud-based platforms and containerisation tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience working with aerial, satellite, or drone imagery and related geospatial AI applications.
• Knowledge of GIS tools, spatial databases, and spatial SQL (including PostGIS).
• Familiarity with data annotation and dataset quality management workflows.
• Experience with real-time or near-real-time inference pipelines.
• Contributions to academic publications, patents, or active involvement in AI and geospatial research communities.
