I’m working with one of the world’s most recognised automotive OEMs, a company whose vehicles are on every road, in every country.
They need a sharp Lighting Engineer for a high-impact, cross-disciplinary role sitting at the intersection of mechanical, electrical, software and optics engineering. You won’t be buried in a silo, you’ll be interfacing with suppliers, designers, manufacturing, and quality teams, and your work will directly shape the global lighting standards this OEM deploys across its entire vehicle portfolio.
If you want to work on the cutting edge of automotive lighting and ADAS sensor technology, and see your work on the road at scale, this is it.
What you’ll actually be doing:
- Owning the core: Developing and maintaining FMA documentation, Design Rules, requirements, and standards that govern lighting globally.
- Driving technology: Evaluating and developing next-generation lighting technology and ADAS sensor protection solutions.
- Setting the testing bar: Developing lighting and ADAS sensor protection testing standards, managing lab operations, and leading IIHS and vehicle-level testing.
- Leading cross-functional teams: Running design reviews and interface meetings with suppliers, engineers, studio, manufacturing, and STA.
- Regulatory expertise: Interpreting global lighting regulations and translating them into actionable engineering requirements.
- Headlamp aiming: Owning headlamp aiming standards and process development.
- A BS in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, or a relevant discipline).
- 3+ years in lighting or ADAS sensor protection engineering, with real hands-on experience in this space.
- 3+ years in body exterior applications.
- Strong communication and project management skills. You’ll be running cross-functional meetings and keeping complex workstreams on track.
- A Master’s in Electrical, Mechanical, or Optical Engineering.
- 5+ years in lighting applications.
- Experience with DFMEA, GD&T, and Design for Six Sigma.
- Knowledge of plastic materials, injection moulding, optics, lamp manufacturing, and product validation.
- Familiarity with global lighting regulations.
This OEM operates at global scale and moves with intent. They want someone driven, technically sharp, and ready to own their piece of the programme.
