Founding Account Executive (LA/SF)
iO Associates are delighted to be supporting this well funded startup on the appointment of 2 senior sales hires to spearhead their growth in the LA and SF territories. This position is suitable for a highly ambitious tech sales professional at the top of their game that is excited to hunt from day one. The successful candidate will be joining a highly reputable leadership team with an some of the sharpest minds in the industry as they grow their West Coast presence.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic plan to target and secure enterprise clients within the North West territory.
- Own the entire sales cycle – from initial prospecting, engaging stakeholders, to delivering compelling business cases, conducting negotiations, and closing deals.
- Lead technical assessments and manage proof-of-concept projects, aligning solutions with client requirements.
- Utilise structured sales methodologies such as MEDDICC or MEDDPICC to qualify opportunities, forecast accurately, and achieve consistent closure of deals.
- Build strong, consultative relationships with technical and executive stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions.
- Collaborate across functions including marketing, product teams, and sales engineering to better serve client needs.
- Represent the organisation at regional industry events and client meetings.
- Contribute to team growth by assisting in onboarding and mentoring newer team members as the territory expands.
Essential Skills & Experience
- A minimum of 7 years’ proven success in enterprise B2B technology sales, with a consistent record of exceeding targets.
- Demonstrable experience in developing new territories from scratch, transforming them into reliable revenue streams.
- Deep understanding of multi-stakeholder sales processes within large organisations.
- Proficiency in structured sales frameworks such as MEDDICC or MEDDPICC.
- Strong prospecting, pipeline management, and account planning abilities.
- Formal sales training from reputable disciplined organisations such as PTC, EMC, or ADP.
- Expertise in value-based selling, business case development, and stakeholder engagement at senior levels.
- Comfort with modern sales tools, including Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and outreach platforms.
- Resilient, resourceful, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience selling digital platform solutions, particularly those involving AI, data infrastructure, cloud computing, or cybersecurity.
- Existing network of enterprise contacts within the North West.
- Experience leading or building sales teams, with an aptitude for leadership and mentorship.
- Familiarity with the competitive landscape, including key players such as Snowflake, Databricks, Palantir, Anthropic, Microsoft, and Google.
