iO Associates are thrilled to be hosting the latest Philadelphia JavaScript Developers Meetup!
On Thursday 2nd March at 6pm, we will be joined by four amazing speakers. Presenting on the night will be Ted Agolli,Full-Stack Software Developer at Certara, whose session is surrounding ‘Remixing the web’. Also joining us is Otoloye Oyeniran, Software Engineer and Founder of Wajusoft, who is delivering a session on ‘Understanding web3.js’. Gabby Getz, Software Developer at Cesium, will be presenting a session based on ‘CesiumJS: Lessons learned maintaining a large WebGL code base’. Last but certainly not least, Jevelson Simenthy, Principle Engineer at Comcast, will be speaking on the topic: ‘Service Mesh Using Kuma(Open Source)’.
This Meetup will be hosted at 20th Floor, One Penn Center, 1617 John F Kennedy Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19103. There will also be food and refreshments offered throughout the evening, so don’t miss out!
About our speakers:
Ted is a full-stack software developer working at Certara, where he writes Java, SQL, and some JS. In his spare time, he enjoys building Chrome and VSCode extensions, and other useful web apps. He lives outside of Philadelphia with his wife and 5-year-old son.
Remix is a full-stack web framework, focused on leveraging web standards to help developers deliver fast and resilient web apps. This talk will highlight how Remix helps you use the built-in features of the web, such as Forms and the URL bar, to avoid re-inventing the wheel while still delivering a modern reactive web app. We will compare the developer experience of using Remix versus that of writing plain React. Finally, we will look at some of the exciting new features coming to Remix such as response streaming.
Otoloye is a Software Engineer with experience building full-stack web and mobile applications. Lately, his interests have been in the web3 space. He is the Founder of Wajusoft.com - a modern Engineering as a Service company focused on building performance, business-driven solutions for their clients.
Gabby works on open source development as a CesiumJS committer. She wrote the initial styling language for 3D Tiles and was a contributing editor to the spec. She works closely with Cesium users and the 3D, geospatial, and open source communities. Gabby was the 2019 recipient of the Spar3D Younger Geospatial Professional of the Year award, served on the Program Committee for FOSS4G NA 2018, gives talks about Cesium and open source, and continues to promote women in STEM through high school and middle school programs.
Gabby’s session will be a brief intro to CesiumJS, a JavaScript library for rendering the whole world in your browser. Followed by an overview of recent technical improvements made to modernize the code base for 2022.
Jevelson Simenthy is currently working as Principle Engineer at Comcast. Jevelson is an adjunct professor at Pennstate and Drexel. He has over 20+ years of experience in Software Architecture, design, and development. He has wide expertise in software development, planning, and DevOps. His passion for technology motivates him to build solutions that are secure, reliable, scalable, and performant. He is also a technical coach to young developers.
